Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions will I need?
There is no minimum or maximum amount of sessions. How many you will need depends on your specific needs and you will not be tied into a contract for set number of sessions.
How long is each session?
Each session is 50 minutes long.
How often are the sessions?
Sessions usually take place weekly, on the same day and at the same time. Some flexibilty is possible if for example you work shifts.
What if it isn't for me?
You may realise after we start working together counselling is not for you. This could be due to a variety of reasons. If you do, you can stop your sessions any time you want although it may be helpful for both of us if we can discuss this.
How much will it cost & how do I pay?
Each session costs £55 which will be payable on the day of the session. I accept cash, cheque, bank transfers and card payments.
Will you be talking to other people about our sessions?
Whatever we discuss together is confidential. There are some exceptions to this though which mainly revolve around you, or someone else being at risk of serious harm or in the case of serious criminal offences. Should I feel circumstances are such I need to break confidentiality I will always aim to discuss this with you first.
Every counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is required to attend regular supervision. This is to allow me to reflect on how I work, and the focus is not on the content of your sessions. My supervision sessions are also fully confidential. Please feel free to ask me about this.
What do I do if I need to cancel a session? Or if I miss one?
Please notify me as soon as you can. I require a minimum of 48 hours notice. Sessions will still be chargeable otherwise unless in exeptional circumstances.
Is your counselling room wheelchair accesible?
Unfortunately not, my room is on the first floor.
Are you affiliated with any EAP's (Employee Assistance Programmes) or private medical insurers?
Yes, I am affiliated with Aviva, AXA, Vitality, Bupa, Health Assured and Workplace Options
